ClearCourse Acquires e-Clinic
ClearCourse Partnership a group of technology companies providing software, services and digital capabilities to the membership, events & bookings and sports & leisure sectors, has acquired e-clinic, a patient and clinic management software provider. The deal is ClearCourse’s 13th since its foundation in October 2018 and represents an expansion of the Partnership’s product offering into the healthcare industry. ClearCourse was established to add value in innovative, well performing UK-based technology companies that provide digital services, including payment capabilities, to membership, events and bookings organisations. ClearCourse will work closely with e-clinic’s senior team, providing operational expertise and financial resources to bolster and support the Company’s ambitious growth strategy and continued platform development. e-clinic will also gain access to improved payments infrastructure and other technology products, including data validation services, from within the Partnership.

ECI Signs Definitive Agreement to Acquire Trivest Beheer B.V.
Fort Worth, Texas – 13th August 2019 - ECI Software Solutions, a company specialising in cloud-based business management solutions, has announced it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Netherlands-based Trivest Beheer B.V., provider of smart vertical software solutions to the SME manufacturing sector. With this acquisition, Trivest’s nearly 3,000 customers and more than 300 employees will join ECI’s manufacturing division. Trivest provides industry-specific software solutions for small to mid-sized companies in the manufacturing sector, including ERP (enterprise resource planning) software, APM (advanced production management system) software, MES (manufacturing execution system) software, CAD/CAM design software, business intelligence solutions and mobile applications. Together, the Trivest suite of software and SaaS solutions optimizes and automates processes across the entire value chain for customers in 27 countries. This acquisition will significantly expand ECI’s presence in the Benelux region and across Europe.

Scaleworks Acquires Nextopia
Toronto - 15th August 2019 - San Antonio-based investment company, Scaleworks has acquired e-commerce search shop, Nextopia for an undisclosed amount - its second acquisition out of its recently closed second fund. Toronto-based Nextopia is focused on providing real-time recommendations and personalization. According to Lew Moorman, Scaleworks’ General Partner and co-founder, the purchase complements Scaleworks’ first acquisition earlier this year, after raising $80 million for its new fund. Back in May, the firm announced it was bringing Denver-based SearchSpring into its portfolio. SearchSpring combines artificial intelligence and algorithms to create advanced search and navigation features for online shops. Nextopia and SearchSpring will both be led by CEO, Peter Messana.

VMWare in talks to Acquire Pivotal
California - 14th August 2019, Dell Technologies filed a Schedule 13D/A with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission related to ongoing discussions between special committees at VMware and Pivotal around a potential transaction. VMware said in a release that it regularly evaluates potential partnerships and acquisitions that would accelerate their strategy. Pivotal is a long-term strategic partner of VMWare and the two companies already collaborate to help enterprises in their application development and infrastructure transformation. VMware’s Board of Directors will continue to act in the best interest of all shareholders. VMWare said there it wasn’t certain that agreement would be reached regarding the potential acquisition. They also stated they do not intend to communicate further on the matter unless and until a definitive agreement is reached.

McAfee acquires security platform NanoSec
Santa Clara, California – 14th August 2019 - McAfee has announced the acquisition of NanoSec, a multi-cloud, zero-trust application and security platform. The acquisition will enable organisations to “improve governance and compliance” and to “reduce risk of their cloud and container deployments”. The acquisition of NanoSec will strengthen the container security capabilities of McAfee MVISION Cloud and MVISION Server Protection products, giving its customers the ability to speed up application delivery while enhancing governance, compliance and security of their hybrid, multi-cloud deployments. NanoSec’s security capabilities will be applied to applications and workloads deployed in containers and Kubernetes and will be integrated into McAfee MVISION Cloud and MVISION Server Protection offerings. These capabilities include continuous configuration compliance and vulnerability assessment as well as runtime application-level segmentation for detecting and preventing lateral movement of threats. Groupon Acquires Presence AI to Enhance Booking Experience
Chicago - Groupon has announced it has acquired Presence AI,  an AI-powered text and voice communications tool that enables and facilitates messaging between customers and merchants. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed. Groupon Chief Product Officer, Sarah Butterfass, said: “We’re pleased to welcome the Presence AI team and their booking technology to Groupon. Booking is a key part of our voucherless initiative aimed at improving the redemption experience, providing always-on availability, giving consumers more reasons to buy through Groupon and opening up our marketplace to a broader range of merchants.
