After an educational background in Science, Geert began work in the ICT sector during the mid eighties. Up till 1990 he was involved in developing business around large systems networks, primarily IBM midrange systems. As Business Development Manager he was responsible for establishing sales and services operations in new regions and opening up new markets.
In the early nineties, an opportunity arose for Geert to complete a management buy-out at his then employer. (He had set up a new software division to develop a global market presence for a new document automation/production solution.) The MBO was transacted successfully and the company enjoyed spectacular growth, winning 300 new clients around the world. Geert sold this business in 1998. He was then asked by a leading North American document automation and document management company to set up their European operations. As European Managing Director, Geert established offices in the UK, Benelux and Germany and laid the foundations for building the business, generating the largest deal in the company's history at that time.
Joining Boss Equity…
Geert Joined Boss Equity in January 2002 for the Continental European region. Due to his management experience and skills in the e-DM, Workflow and content management industry, he immediately became one of the principal partners. During his time with Boss Equity, Geert has facilitated numerous acquisitions and trade sales and assisted start-up companies within the eDM sector. Based upon his experience as an entrepreneur in the DMS sector, he has the situational fluency to rapidly gain an in-depth understanding of his clients’ requirements and the knowledge and resources to help them grow their business.
Besides spending time with his wife and three children in his 200 year old farm house, Geert likes to keep in shape by participating in endurance events. After spending all day sitting - either in an office, on a train, an aircraft or behind the wheel of his car - Geert likes to spend at least one hour on sporting activity. Consequently, when time permits, he is to be found, either, swimming, biking or running in preparation for some of the triathlons he enters during the summer period. In 2008 he completed his first full Ironman event. (3.8km swim. 180km bike, 42km run.)
